Shawnee VINELink County Coverage
Kansas Victim Information and Notification Everyday, called Kansas VINE, is available through VINELink and by telephone. It is free, confidential, voluntary, and supports several languages. The service covers adults housed in Kansas county jails, including the Shawnee County Adult Detention Center. It can return a custody status and facility supplied by that participating jail.
The boundary matters in Topeka. The Kansas Attorney General VINE page states that KDOC state-prison offenders are excluded. Someone at Topeka Correctional Facility must be checked through KASPER and KDOC Victim Services instead. VINE also does not replace BOP, ICE, court, or local probation systems.

Search a Shawnee VINELink Record
VINELink is a named-person check, not a browsable Shawnee recent-release list. Use full identifying detail because common names can produce several results. A facility match and the identifiers shown in the record are more reliable than a name alone.

The county daily booking report and permanent jail or commitment record add the booking number, release time, and release authority. A court case can explain the legal order. If the destination was KDOC, USMS, ICE, or another jail, the receiving system is needed to finish the custody chain.
The permanent jail or commitment record is the durable fallback. Kansas requires the jail calendar to state the authority and time of release. - For telephone calls, create a four-digit PIN. Email does not use that phone PIN.
- Save or confirm the registration and keep the PIN private.
- When an automated call arrives, listen and enter the PIN followed by the pound key to acknowledge it.
Acknowledgment stops repeat phone calls. The PIN confirms receipt; it is not an offender identifier. An email generally sends one status-change message. If a notice is urgent or disputed, contact the holding agency rather than waiting for a second alert.

Confirm a Shawnee VINE Release
The Kansas fact sheet reports that participating county-jail data updates at fifteen-minute intervals around the clock. A jail event can occur between updates. KASPER updates on working days, creating a different lag after a transfer into KDOC. These cadences should not be treated as one synchronized record.
Compare the alert with the Shawnee daily booking entry, permanent jail or commitment record, and court disposition. If another custodian appears, switch to its locator. Kansas VINE does not cover KDOC prisons, BOP custody, ICE custody, or ordinary local probation. One channel cannot settle every custody path.

The KDOC form is separate and does not provide ordinary county-jail or local-probation status. After a county-to-state transfer, the Shawnee VINE change and later KASPER movement may appear at different times. Confirm identity in both records before linking the events.

Kansas VINE, the hourly county roster, the daily booking PDF, and working-day KASPER updates operate on different clocks. A weekend event may reach VINE before the next PDF or state correctional update. Record the time and exact status from each channel when sequence matters.
Later screens can replace a current label without giving the full reason. A formal county request is stronger for release authority and time. KASPER movement history serves the state correctional stage. Together they explain more than repeated refreshes of one status page.

When an alert arrives, save the person’s displayed name, facility, event, and notification time. Then open the Shawnee current-custody portal. A continued roster match may reflect update timing.
